The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s support for Nigeria Fashion Week 2026, scheduled to hold in Abuja from October 2 to 4.
Musawa gave the assurance while receiving a delegation from Legendary Gold Limited, organisers of the event, alongside representatives of Qualitrend Group, the event’s official strategic partnerships, government relations, tourism and investment integration partner.
The delegation, which included members of the organising committee, was led by the Chief Executive Officer of Legendary Gold Limited, Lexy Mojo-Eyes.
The minister said the Federal Government remained committed to positioning Nigeria’s creative and cultural industries as major drivers of entrepreneurship, economic growth, job creation, exports and global competitiveness.
She noted that the creative economy offered opportunities for women and young people and could support efforts to expand economic participation, strengthen businesses and create sustainable livelihoods across the country.
Speaking during the meeting, Mojo-Eyes described fashion as a major expression of Nigeria’s cultural identity and an important economic sector with strong links to tourism, investment and manufacturing.

He said the industry supports thousands of businesses across the fashion, garment, textile, leather, hair and beauty value chains, creating opportunities for designers, artisans, entrepreneurs and other skilled professionals.
According to him, the sector could create millions of jobs for young Nigerians if its talents, resources and commercial opportunities were properly developed and harnessed.
The engagement also featured a strategic working session aimed at strengthening collaboration among the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Legendary Gold Limited and Qualitrend Group ahead of the 2026 edition.
The partnership is expected to improve Nigeria’s position as one of Africa’s leading fashion and creative economy destinations by attracting investment, promoting tourism, expanding export opportunities and encouraging international collaborations.
The organisers said the planned collaboration would bring government and private-sector stakeholders together to advance Nigeria’s fashion, tourism and creative economy agenda.
Nigeria Fashion Week 2026 is expected to provide a platform for showcasing local creativity, promoting enterprise and connecting industry players with investors, institutions and international partners.
With preparations underway, the organisers said the event would support the growth of Nigeria’s fashion ecosystem and strengthen its contribution to national economic development.
