Nigerian defender, Musa Muhammed continued with his rich vein of form at the weekend to earn a place in the Team of the Week, after helping HNK Gorica to a 3-1 win over Rudes in the Croatian Prva HNL League.

Victory on Match-Day 24 encounter pushed HNK Gorica to fifth position on the table, while Muhammed and his Senegalese teammate, Cherif Ndiaye, were voted in the Team of the Week.

“I’m happy to be picked in the Team of the Week after our victory at the weekend,” explained Muhammed, the former captain of the Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles. “Of course I had a good game and I can only pray it continues this way.”

The all-action defender, who had the best mark of the four defenders chosen in the Team of the Week, as he scored seven out of 10, admitted his recent improvement was not unconnected with his transfer from Lokomotiv Plovdivas.

“The good thing is that I’m playing regularly now and this has also improved my confidence; I can only get better in the coming weeks and, hopefully, I can be called upon for the national team,” Muhammed further said.

Muhammed had made cameo appearances in the Super Eagles and capped only three times since the appointment of Coach Gernot Rohr. He really caught the eye with the Super Eagles B side in the Pre-Russia 2018 World Cup exhibition match against Atletico Madrid.

“Of course, it’s my ambition to get the opportunity to play more matches for the Super Eagles and I know I can be called upon if I play continuously for Gorica,” Muhammed hinted.
