MTU appoints Ojo, Abiala as professors

The Mountain Top University (MTU), Prayer City, Ogun State, recently promoted Dr. James Olanipekun Ojo and Dr. Moses Akindele Abiala as professors in their different Colleges of Humanities, Management and Social Sciences and of Basic and Applied Sciences.  Ojo is now a Professor of Marketing and Entrepreneurship effective November 2023.  Before joining the academia, he had three decades industrial expertise with robust corporate excellence.

Prof. Ojo had worked in both global and national terrain transcending the multicultural diversities of business engagements.

His industrial competences span from reputable companies like; United Trading Company, (UTC), Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited, (CCNL), Nutri-Health Africa, (RSA), Intelligent Marking and Coding Limited, (IMCL), and Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce, (NACC) , where he retired as Executive Secretary/Director General amongst  other attainments. 

He transitioned laudably to the academia in 2015 after he bagged his doctorate degree from Babcock University, a programme he completed in three years despite the responsibilities he was saddled with as the DG, American Chamber of Commerce (NACC).  His educational pursuit swiftly journeyed from the University of Lagos where he obtained his first degree in Mass Communication to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife where he bagged a degree in Masters of Administration (MBA), further, he also enrolled for MILD, International Law & Diplomacy (Lagos), and another master’s degree in Marketing at UNILAG before embarking on his doctorate programme from Babcock University where he was decorated with a PhD (Marketing) in 2015.

After being awarded with a PhD in Marketing in 2015, Dr. Olanipekun joined Mcpherson University, Ajebo.  Making a smart switch in his career and was appraised to the position of a Lecturer 1, in 2017 he joined Mountain Top University, Prayer City as a Senior Lecturer.  In 2020, he was promoted to the position of a Reader, (Associate Professor) before becoming a full Professor in 2023.

He served as the Head of Department (HOD), Business Administration before his most current administrative attainment.  Prof Ojo has published many research papers in reputable   journals both globally and nationally. He currently occupies the position of Dean of Students Affairs Division, DSA of MTU. He is married to Pastor. (Mrs.) Olufunmilayo Abike Ojo, a Public Health Advisor, and the union is blessed with three children.

In a related development, Dr. Moses Akindele Abiala, the former sub-Dean of College of Basic and Applied Science between (2016-2017) and the former acting Dean of Students Affairs for the 2017-2022 academic session was also decorated alongside Prof. Ojo as a full Professor in the Department of Micro Biology.

Abiala currently Heads the Department of Biological Sciences of the same University.

He obtained his first degree, MSc and PhD in the same discipline from the University of Ibadan. His research interests speak volume as his passion revolves within Environmental Microbiology and Biotechnology global values and solutions to the food security posing great challenge to the growing population today.

Prof. Abiala has won severally research grants and sponsorship supports by International Institute of Tropical Agriculture in Nigeria, as a  (Research Fellow), bagged the West African Research Association in USA (pre-doctoral), the World Academy of Sciences-DFG in Germany (Post-doctoral), the World Academy of Sciences-DBT in India (Post-doctoral) and many more. He has published many research papers in reputable international journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings cited the world over.

He is an external examiner in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in some renowned Universities in Nigeria.  His driving force is to provide solutions to scientific problems empower and fuel the socio-cultural needs of stakeholders through long standing research outputs.
