Motherland Festival 2025 wrapped up its inaugural edition on December 20 in Lagos, drawing over 8,000 attendees from Nigeria and the diaspora for a landmark celebration of culture, identity and belonging.
Positioned as a homecoming rather than just a music festival, the event created a space for Nigerians across generations and continents to reconnect through music and shared cultural experiences. The festival featured world-class stage design, international-standard sound and lighting, and immersive visuals that set a new benchmark for large-scale live entertainment in Nigeria.
Headlined by Omah Lay, the diverse lineup included Seyi Vibez, Odumodublvck, The Cavemen, Qing Madi, Fola and others, showcasing the breadth of Nigerian music across genres and generations.
Beyond entertainment, Motherland Festival boosted the local creative economy by engaging hundreds of vendors, technicians and service providers, while reinforcing Nigeria’s appeal as a cultural tourism destination.
A major highlight was its partnership with First Bank of Nigeria, which provided on-site banking, BVN and NIN registration services to support diaspora attendees. Jameson and Pepsi also supported the event as key sponsors.
Organisers say the festival’s vision extends beyond December, with plans to continue building platforms that connect Nigerians globally while celebrating cultural excellence.
