Super Eagles debutant Moses Usor has revealed that a piece of advice from winger Moses Simon shaped his first appearance for Nigeria, and that the experience felt like a dream come true.
Moses said he was warming up alongside Simon when he was called on. Simon told him to play his game and be himself.
“If you have the ball and you want to go one on one, you take the risk,” Moses said Simon told him. He took that mentality into the game. “Football is all about risk,” he said. “I just went there to play my game.”
Moses admitted he was still coming to terms with playing at this level. “I was still surprised, wondering if it was a dream, because playing at this level is a big dream,” he said.
He scored, and as he does after every goal, he went down on his knees to thank God. This time felt different, he said, because his family was in the stadium. “I was really happy seeing everyone here.”
He also spoke of the thrill of sharing a camp with players he has long looked up to. “It’s a different feeling playing alongside” the senior stars like Ademola Lookman, Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi is huge for me,” he said.
He concluded by saying that will give his best whenever he has the opportunity to play because Nigerians would be expecting much from him.
