Morocco national team head coach Walid Regragui has stated that he is not afraid of being sacked should his side lose to Nigeria’s Super Eagles in their AFCON 2025 semi nal match in Rabat on Wednesday, www.aclsports.com reports.
Regragui made the remarks while responding to questions about his future as Morocco’s head coach during Tuesday’s pre-match press conference ahead of the showdown with Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
“It is a good question. In my country, it is like this. You need to accept that when you are the head coach of the national team. With every result, you have critics. I do my best for my country every time,” said Regragui, who led Morocco to a historic fourth-place nish at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
“I am focused with my team, and that is the most important. I don’t listen to the criticism. We’ve only had four defeats in three and a half years. Normally, no one should be talking, but in Morocco, it’s different. We have to accept that.
“Every coach when you have this job, you need to prepare for this. My job is to do the work on the pitch with my players so I am not afraid of being sacked,” He added.
“As for the fans, they make your opponent different. When you play in Morocco, this stadium is difficult for all opponents. Moroccan fans do their best to show that winning here is very difficult,” the 50-year- old tactician said about his side’s strong unbeaten run.
