The Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football has defended the controversial decision by the Confederation of African Football Appeal Board on the 2025 AFCON final, insisting its actions were guided by due process.

In a statement, the Moroccan football body said its appeal was not aimed at undermining any team’s performance but to ensure strict adherence to competition rules.

“The Federation reiterates that its approach has always been grounded in respect for the rules and stability of African competitions,” it stated.

The federation also commended all participating nations, describing the tournament as a significant milestone for football development across Africa.

It added that a more detailed position would be released after a meeting of its governing bodies, expected to further clarify its stance.

According to the body, the forthcoming statement will outline any legal or administrative steps deemed necessary following the ruling.

The CAF Appeal Board’s decision has continued to spark debate among stakeholders, with growing calls for greater transparency and consistency in the governance of African football.
