The legal team representing the family of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad has written official letter to the United States of America based laboratory, NMS Labs, requesting the firm to provides an official statement clarifying its laboratory’s involvement in toxicology testing related to the late artist.
The leading forensic and clinical toxicology testing laboratory, was linked to the inconclusive autopsy report by the Lagos State Government.
Mohbad, a rising star in the Nigerian music scene, passed away under circumstances that have sparked widespread speculation and public concern. Reports have circulated, particularly in Nigerian media, suggesting that toxicology tests on samples from Mohbad were conducted by NMS Labs.
These reports have led to significant public confusion and concern over the integrity and origin of the toxicology results.
The legal team, acting on behalf of Mohbad’s family and the public advocacy group Justice for Mohbad, highlighted a specific article from a prominent Nigerian newspaper’s claim that NMS Labs had denied conducting any poison tests on Mohbad. The publication referenced NMS Labs as a source, adding to the urgency and public interest in the matter.
In the letter, Barr. Taiwo Odumosu, Senior Practitioner of Hillceetee Partners, and Mrs. Olaitan Paul, a representative for Justice for Mohbad, requested NMS Labs to confirm that no toxicology test samples related to Mohbad were received by NMS Labs from the Lagos State Government or any other Nigerian government body.
NMS has also been asked to issue statement clarifying that its laboratory is not affiliated with any other laboratory that might have conducted toxicology tests on Mohbad’s samples.
The letter emphasizes the importance of dispelling misinformation and ensuring the public receives accurate and reliable information. It also underscores the need to maintain the integrity and reputation of NMS Labs amid global scrutiny.
“We understand the sensitivity and confidentiality of such matters and assure you that this request is made in the interest of transparency and justice,” the letter states. The legal team hopes that a prompt response from NMS Labs will help clear the air and provide the necessary clarity to the public.
