Mohammed elected chairman, Anyanwu secretary at factional PDP national convention

The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike-backed Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction has elected Abdulrahman Mohammed and Samuel Anyanwu as substantive National Chairman and National Secretary respectively.

The party faction elected a new National Working Committee (NWC) at its 2026 National Convention held at the velodrome of the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Sunday.

 

The PDP Constitution (2017, as amended) provides for a 19-member NWC at the national level, outlining its structure and responsibilities within the party’s leadership framework.

SunOnline can report that the National Chairman, National Secretary and 17 other officials emerged through consensus.

Prominent members of the party present at the convention were FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike and Senator for Benue South, Senator Abba Moro.

Also present were former Senate President, Bukola Saraki; former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido; former Kaduna State governor, Ahmed Makarfi, among others.
