An angry mob in Aba, Abia State, early in the week reportedly killed a man whose name could not be ascertained for allegedly killing one of his children and injuring another.

The man was said to be in his early 40s and hailed from a community in Obingwa Local Government Area, but resided at Umuobe Phase II, Ovom, in the Ogbor Hill area of Aba.

It was gathered that the man had a quarrel with his nursing-mother wife, which resulted in a serious altercation. He was said to have told his wife that he would do something she would never forget in her life.

As the quarrel escalated, their two children were said to have run to the balcony of their apartment on the top floor of the two-storey building where the altercation was taking place.

Reports said that immediately the man saw his children, he rushed towards them, picked up one of them and threw the child from the two-storey building.

He immediately grabbed the second child and also threw the child down. He then allegedly attempted to fling a third child, whom the wife was carrying, from the building, but she resisted him.

Sources said that when the man was unable to take the third child from the wife and throw the child down, he jumped from the two-storey building himself and sustained injuries.

As he attempted to flee after getting up, an angry mob that had gathered allegedly attacked him and killed him.

The injured child was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, while the man and the deceased child were taken to a mortuary.
