Over 1,000 entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers and corporate executives converged in Lagos for the 7th edition of the Mentor Matchup Challenge (MMC7.0), a Pan-African summit dedicated to advancing trade and industrial development across the continent.

Held in partnership with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, the two-day event brought together leaders from the public and private sectors, including Transcorp, Rainoil, Fidelity Bank, VFD Group, and Moneda Invest Africa. Over 50 speakers shared actionable insights on unlocking cross-border trade, scaling local manufacturing, driving the energy transition, and mobilizing sustainable capital for SMEs.

The summit also celebrated innovation and entrepreneurship through its Pitch2Scale competition, where MashBabyFood won $10,000, highlighting MMC’s role in connecting startups with mentorship, investment, and market opportunities.

Ezinne Nwazulu, convener of MMC7.0, emphasized that the event is more than a conference: “MMC is a platform for building bridges that enable real economic outcomes across Africa.”

Supported by a coalition of development banks, energy companies, and industry stakeholders, MMC7.0 reinforced Africa’s capacity to strengthen industries, grow intra-African trade, and accelerate economic growth, demonstrating the transformative power of collaboration, partnerships, and inclusive engagement for the continent’s future.
