Police have reportedly discovered the body of a final-year microbiology student of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, who was found dead days after she was allegedly declared missing by a close friend.

It was learnt that the student, identified as Blessing, was last seen on Sunday, July 27, 2025, and missed a scheduled examination on Monday, but messages allegedly sent from her phone claimed she had been kidnapped and that a ransom was being demanded.

It was further gathered that the friend who initially raised the alarm reportedly disallowed concerned students from searching her residence, raising suspicion over Blessing’s whereabouts and safety.

Sources said the police, acting on a tip-off, discovered Blessing’s decomposing body within the compound, and investigations are currently ongoing to uncover the circumstances surrounding her death.

The spokesman of the Edo State Police Command, Moses Yamu, while confirming the incident, said an investigation has commenced.
