Ministry of Works begins desilting drains to ease Lagos flooding

In response to flooding that affected several parts of Lagos following yesterday’s downpour, the Federal Ministry of Works has directed the desilting of drains along federal roads in the state with the view to deflood the highways.
The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Engr. O. I. Kesha, in a press release issued on Wednesday, clarified that Lagos is not experiencing widespread submergence from floodwaters, countering some reports that suggested otherwise.
She acknowledged that localized flooding has impacted certain sections of federal roads, causing significant inconvenience to residents and commuters.
Kesha stated “Our teams are currently deployed to assess the situation while desilting of drains along the affected roads are currently being carried out. The Ministry understands the inconvenience caused by these flash floods and is committed to eliminating the disruptions caused thereafter.”
Kesha emphasized The Ministry’s commitment to mitigating the disruptions caused by these flash floods urging to remain calm.
