Southern Kaduna Peoples’ Union (SOKAPU) has commended the Senate for not confirming the ministerial nomination of former governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
El-Rufai and two other ministerial nominees were reportedly not confirmed by the Senate because of petitions and security reports against them.
SOKAPU spokesman, Luka Binanyat, told Daily Sun, yesterday, that some groups from Southern Kaduna were among the people that sent petitions against El-Rufai because of alleged genocide committed against the Southern Kaduna people during his eight year reign.
Binniyat told Daily Sun that El-Rufai was not a nationalis doesn’t deserve to serve as minister under Tinubu.
He said: “Under El-Rufai as Kaduna governor, Southern Kaduna witnessed the level of killings, kidnapping, invasion of villages, and other atrocities against humanity that could be described as unprecedented.
“There was no doubt that El-Rufai had immeasurable hatred for the people of Southern Kaduna and Nigerian Christians in general, and that could be seen in his actions, utterances and behaviours towards the people. He was determined to destroy and wipe out southern Kaduna people and their heritage but God didn’t allow him to complete his ‘evil’ mission.
“For instance, El-Rufai backed fulani people to invade our communities, destroyed farmlands and killed hundreds of our people. He never presented relief materials to the displaced people. Hundreds of souls were lost because of El-Rufai’s actions and unpopular decisions as governor of Kaduna state. In fact, he made it a quarterly affairs to brief the media on the number of our kinsmen that were killed and kidnapped, as if it was an achievement for his government.
“Unfortunately, southern Kaduna people are not alone in these losses, thousands of people in Kaduna also lost their sources of livelihood to the ‘wickedness’ of El-Rufai. Structures and market places were demolished with neither compensation nor alternatives to the victims. The number of workers he sacked in Kaduna State was unprecedented.
“In one swoop, he sacked thousands of teachers, and that was followed by thousands of state workers that were sacked without compensation or entitlements paid. El-Rufai is wicked, cruel and has no sympathy.”
He said that for the people of Southern Kaduna, El-Rufai does not deserve to lead even school children not to talk of handling public office, hence they appreciated the courage of the Senate to deny him ministerial confirmation.
“The people of Southern Kaduna thanked the Senate for denying him ministerial confirmation because under his tenure as Kaduna governor, southern Kaduna was treated with an unbelievable content. He treated the people of Southern Kaduna with utmost hatred,” he said.
