Global mining heavyweight Sir Sam Jonah has been appointed Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Africans for Africa (AFA) Initiative, a pan-African drive to fund African mining with African capital.

The former Ashanti Goldfields boss  who took the company all the way to Wall Street will guide strategy, governance and investment at AFA, backing indigenous miners and keeping more value on the continent.

Sir Sam said the mission was about “economic sovereignty” and turning Africa’s mineral wealth into lasting prosperity.
AFA Managing Director Tim Tokun called the appointment a “blueprint for success,” saying Sir Sam’s leadership gives the Initiative powerful momentum.

The advisory board also features former UK Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng alongside top names from mining and finance.
Africa is stepping up — and taking control of its resources.
