In a world often dominated by loud billionaire tycoons and headline-grabbing magnates, Dr. Mike Agbolade Adenuga Jnr. stands as a beacon of humility, compassion, and unmatched leadership. Despite discreetly donating billions of Naira to various causes, Adenuga’s personal name or face often doesn’t appear on the donors’ list. Yet, his legacy is etched deeply in the fabric of Nigeria’s business and philanthropic landscape. And once again, the billionaire magnate has reaffirmed his status as a leading corporate statesman.

In a landmark gesture underscoring its enduring commitment to national development and public safety, Adenuga’s leading enterprise and communication giant, Globacom, quietly donated a whopping ₦1 billion to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund to strengthen security infrastructure across Nigeria’s commercial capital.

The donation stands among the most significant private-sector interventions from the telecommunications industry to the Fund in recent years, reinforcing Globacom’s position as a responsible and patriotic corporate citizen.

Dr Ayo Ogunsan, Executive Secretary/CEO of the Fund, described Globacom’s N1 billion gesture as a powerful demonstration of corporate citizenship and a strategic investment in the peace and stability of Lagos State.

The donation, he said, will significantly enhance the Fund’s capacity to address critical priorities for 2026, including multipurpose security helicopters and drones, Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), water cannons, digital communication equipment, and Smart CCTV systems. These assets are central to proactive policing, rapid response and intelligence-led operations across the state.

Like its founder and Chairman, Globacom consistently believes in sustained social investment. Over the past decade, the company has supported relief efforts for flood-affected communities, assisted displaced persons, advanced youth empowerment through structured training programmes, and invested in education, culture and digital inclusion.

These initiatives reflect a philosophy of giving that prioritises institutional impact over personal acclaim. By strengthening the Lagos Security Fund, Globacom is investing directly in the conditions that enable commerce to thrive and reinforcing Lagos’ position as the country’s safest and most vibrant commercial hub.

Adenuga, a Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), the nation’s second highest honour, could easily pass as one of the most silent givers in Africa, yet he hates any form of publicity announcing his philanthropy.

Adenuga is one of those risk-taking individuals that toe new paths rather than the easier route of accepted success. He has proven over time that he possesses a quality of constant invention and self-improvement that has earned him global acclaim and prosperity. But as a man of few words, he always prefers to let his silent actions speak for him.
