Donald Trump has criticised NATO allies as “cowards” over their stance on Iran, as reports indicate additional US Marines are being deployed to the Middle East amid escalating tensions.
The development comes nearly three weeks into the ongoing conflict, with Washington reportedly weighing further military options, including potential operations targeting Iran’s strategic Kharg Island.
Trump accused NATO members of failing to support efforts to secure the Strait of Hormuz, blaming Iran’s control of the key shipping route for rising global oil prices. “So easy for them to do, with so little risk. COWARDS, and we will REMEMBER!” he wrote on Truth Social.
He also downplayed concerns over the conflict, insisting that the joint US-Israeli campaign was progressing successfully. “It’s not even a contest,” Trump said during a White House event.
