The dismembered body of an unidentified middle-aged man has been recovered along Ibusa Road, Asaba, Delta State, after he was allegedly run over by a car.
The accident was said to have occurred yesterday when the deceased was rushing to cross the road to have a glimpse of another accident.
Sources said the hit-and-run vehicle was on high speed when it hit the victim, tearing him apart with an attendant gory sight.
Delta State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Udeme Bassey Eshiet, confirmed the accident.
Eshiet, however, debunked claims that the vehicle was set ablaze by an angry mob, noting that the said vehicle successfully escaped. He said the deceased was going to see another accident scene when he met his untimely death.
According to him, a car had earlier rammed into an electric pole in the middle of the road and burst into flames.
Speaking to Sunday Sun, yesterday Ayase further narrated: “The pig has been showing symptoms of sickness since April but someone has been treating it. Last week, the pig started rejecting food. By yesterday, Friday, July 22, 2023, we noticed that the pig was weak. So, we gave it food and went to bed.
This morning, it was bleeding from the nose. I called a veterinary doctor who told me it was anthrax.”
He said the doctor had advised him to get hand gloves and facemask and bury the pig but I told myself that from what I have been reading about anthrax, I won’t go close to it. That was when I made the post,” he said.
At the time of filing this report, Ayase said the National Centre for Disease Control, (NCDC) had visited his residence and taken samples for testing.
When contacted, the Director of Public Health Services in the State Ministry of Health, Dr Igbagbul Shember Agela, said the ministries of health, agriculture, and Environment already had a committee in place that swung into action and located the resident.
