A road accident has claimed the life of a female worshipper at the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) Church at the NYSC Bus Stop, at the Igando area of Lagos.

According to a statement by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the incident occurred when the victim, who was on her way to attend a church service, was struck by a Mercedes-Benz C-300 while she was using the pedestrian corridor.

“The impact was described as devastating, leading to her instant death,” officials said.

The traffic agency disclosed that its operatives along the Igando axis swiftly responded after receiving distress calls.

“The officers immediately secured the scene to prevent further accidents, regulated traffic flow, and ensured public safety while emergency protocols were activated.”

The agency further said that the driver of the vehicle fled the scene upon realising the fatal outcome of the collision.
LASTMA described the action as a serious violation of traffic and civic laws.

It also said that the accident vehicle was later recovered and evacuated through a joint operation involving LASTMA and officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Igando Division, allowing traffic to return to normal in the area.

“The tragedy took an emotional turn when the news reached the MFM Church during the service. The deceased’s husband, who was already in church, alongside other members, reportedly proceeded to the scene and respectfully conveyed her remains for necessary rites,” LASTMA said in the statement.
