Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi has reportedly reached an agreement in principle to acquire Spanish second-tier club CD Eldense.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, the Argentine forward is set to purchase 100 per cent of the club’s shares.

CD Eldense currently compete in Spain’s Segunda Division.

The proposed takeover is expected to be completed without the involvement of third parties, subject to the conclusion of the due diligence process.

The deal is now merely awaiting formal ratification from Spain’s Higher Sports Council, CSD, in the coming days.

Messi is cementing his growing business footprint across Spanish football, ahead of his anticipated eventual return to live in Catalonia.
