The Presidency has explained the absence of President Bola Tinubu at the commissioning of the Mende–Ojota–Opebi Link Bridge in Lagos, citing pressing state matters and security concerns.
Speaking on Politics Today, the Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications to the President, Sunday Dare, said the president remained in Lagos but was engaged in high-level duties requiring his immediate attention.

“President Tinubu is in Lagos but has been busy with state matters and must prioritise, especially security. He’s monitoring developments and taking constant security briefs,” Dare stated.
The clarification comes amid questions over the president’s absence at the Mende–Ojota–Opebi bridge commissioning, a key project aimed at easing traffic congestion in parts of Lagos.
Dare emphasised that national security remains a top priority for the administration, noting that the president continues to stay updated on developments while discharging his responsibilities.
