McGregor hints at boxing comeback

Conor McGregor has hinted at a boxing comeback after losing his debut bout against Floyd Mayweather last year.

The Irishman crossed over from MMA in August 2017 and was stopped by the pound-for-pound great in the tenth round of their unique fight to take his record to 50-0.

Since then, McGregor returned home to the Octagon, only to be beaten once again, this time by Russian lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Despite back-to-back losses, the 30-year-old is still one of the planet’s biggest sporting stars and so holds plenty of options regarding his next move.

After attending his countrywoman Katie Taylor’s victory over Cindy Serrano on Saturday night, McGregor was asked by a FightHype reporter whether he will be returning to boxing to fight Paulie Malignaggi or rematch Floyd Mayweather.

He simply replied: “Both of them.”

Two weeks ago, Conor McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh spoke out on the Joe Rogan podcast about the possibility of his star pupil boxing again.

“There are all sorts of crazy rumours going around the management team and the fight team about what might happen next,” Kavanagh began.

“It could be boxing, it could be him [Malignaggi], it could be Floyd.

“All sorts of names are being thrown about.”
