Mburubu community in Nkanu East LGA of Enugu state will elect their igwe on Friday Feb 28 of 2025.
This was a result of Enugu state’s high court judgement delivered on February 12, 2025. By Hon Justice C. O. Ajah Ph D. In his judgment, Justice Ajah ordered the President General of Mburubu town union Hon. Emmanuel S Ede and his Executive to conduct the Mburubu Igwe election within 21 days of the judgement. In addition, the court ordered that those to contest for Mburubu Igweship stool must come from Uhuegbe village which is the next senior village in accordance with section 6, part 3 of the 2003 Mburubu Town Union Constitution.
And with this Court judgement, the Mburubu igweship tussle was brought to an end.
The election is just a formality as there is a sole candidate from Uhuegbe village which is the constitutionally right village to produce the Igwe, who is to succeed late Igwe E. M O Eze, ozulumba 1 of Mburubu who passed-on on December 21 2021.
The sole qualified candidate High Chief Linus Igbudu, Ugo gbuzue ochake 1 na Mburubu will be affirmed as the new Igwe of Mburubu with the title. Ezesinachi 1 Na Mburubu.
The incoming Igwe is a Technocrat and is the current President of the Association of Enugu state Development Unions (AESDU), Lagos State. He is coming with wealth of experience from private sector and public leadership.
The election will be supervised by the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Enugu state as well as Nkanu East LGA officials
As expected Mburubu Town Union National Executive have invited all sons and daughters of Mburubu town both home and in Diaspora to come home for this great event.
It will be recalled that Chief Patrick onuokaibe was parading himself as igwe elect when the constitution of Mburubu Town Union (MTU) zoned the igweship stool to Uhuegbe village, which is the second village in Mburubu in order os Seniority, while he is from Umunafor Village, the fifth village in the order of seniority.
