The Managing Director of Powell Homes and Shelters Ltd, Architect Chibuikem Onyekachi Emmanuel, has described Enugu State as fortunate to have in Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah a leader he likened to Singapore’s founding father, Lee Kuan Yew, citing his strides in industrialisation, infrastructure, and economic growth.
Onyekachi made the remarks on Tuesday in Enugu while speaking with journalists after hosting a birthday celebration to mark Governor Mbah’s 54th birthday.
He noted that at 54 and with nearly three years in office, Mbah has demonstrated a level of leadership that is repositioning Enugu as a prime destination for investment.
According to him, the administration has created a favourable environment for industrialists, particularly in the real estate sector, through reforms in land administration. He highlighted initiatives such as the Enugu State Geographic Information System (ENGIS), the restructuring of the Ministry of Lands, and improvements in the Surveyor-General’s office as key drivers of progress.

Onyekachi further commended the governor’s inclusive leadership style, saying it has fostered political stability in the state. He added that Mbah’s openness to criticism and willingness to engage diverse stakeholders have strengthened governance.
He also drew broader historical comparisons, describing the governor as a blend of global icons such as Charlemagne, Deng Xiaoping, and Mahatma Gandhi in leadership approach and vision.
While offering prayers for the governor, especially as he prepares for the re-election process, Onyekachi expressed confidence in the administration’s economic agenda. He noted that efforts at job creation and economic expansion are already yielding tangible results across sectors.
He added that with improving infrastructure and consistent policy direction, investors are increasingly viewing Enugu as a dependable hub for business, expressing optimism that the state would witness even greater transformation in the years ahead.
