Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris has noted that the support, trust, unity and compassion the people of the state gives his administration have been the beacon of motivation for his government to excel in the last one year.
Idris stated this in a special broadcast to the people to mark his one year in office in Birnin Kebbi.
According to him, “I thank you for the privilege and honour done to me to serve you as the executive governor of the state. I have continued to enjoy your loyalty and support in the task of governance.
” Unity and compassion has been the beacon of hope of my administration with sincerity of purpose. We should continue to uphold the spirit of togetherness to serve you better.
“Within the one year in office, my administration has made positive impacts on prevalence of security that enable farmers to go back to the farm, provided youths’ empowerment and enhanced agricultural production through the distribution of free fertiliser and other farm implements to farmers,” he said.
Idris also said that his administration is committed to making healthcare service delivery accessible and affordable to all communities throughout the state.
He said: ” I have approved the take off of Kebbi Medical Revolving Fund while the administration has procured emergency drugs to curtail outbreak of diseases.
” Indices have indicated that maternal mortality is also on the decline; I will continue to give the health sector desired attention,” he said.
Idris also highlighted the achievements recorded in the provision of portable water supply, regular electricity to people in the metropolis and other localities.
” The government has procured 40 transformers of 550KVA capacity for distribution and installation to appropriate areas to boost power supply while several water schemes have been rehabilitated and equipped with solar- powered energy,” he said.
Idris gave a directive for the equalisation of salaries of medical doctors working under the state government similar to what obtained by doctors at Federal level to prevent the migration of doctors from the state for greener pasture.
On civil service, Idris, said the administration had stopped the casualisation of workers, explaining that the appointment of casual workers would be formalised.
” I have maintained the payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities regularly and promptly every month.
” Salaries of workers will continue to be paid whether the government receives Federation Allocation or not,” he assured.
On investment, the Governor announced that his recently foreign trip had yielded positive result for investment in the economic and industrial development of the state.
“Many investment offers from potential investors have already been received. I have approved the establishment of Kebbi State Security Outfit to compliment the operations of conventional security services and encourage neighborhood watch.
“All local government areas will receive fair representation in the new outfit. I am also determined to boost international tourism in the state through cultural festivals of Gwandu, Argungu, Yauri and Zuru emirates,” he said.
