The Minister of State of Defense, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle has assured the Kebbi State Government and parents of the abducted students of the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School Maga, Danko- Wasagu local that the federal government would ensure their returned safely.
Matawalle stated this while speaking with the Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris during his brief coutesy visit to him at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
He explained that the people of the State should not be panicking because the Military are moving in with alot of equipments to rescue the girls alive.
The former Governor of Zamfara said that they were in Kebbi state due to the order of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to use all the government resources to rescue the victims stressed that they are ready to partner with the State Government on the rescue mission they embarked upon.
In his reaction, Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris who commended the Minister for relocation to the state sought the Minister intervention to investigate those behind the withdrawer of the troop from the school..
“We got an intelligence that the school would be attacked and we summon security meeting and we were advised to mobilize the military to the school which we did.
“Deployment of troop took place. They were taken round the school and by 3am,the military withdrew and around 4am the bandits attacked. I want the Minister to help find out what happened? Who gave order that the military should withdraw so that if they did it intentionally,they should be brought to justice so that it would serve as example for other in the future.
“We leaders in kebbi State don’t understand why we got at intelligence of the attack and we mobilized the troop and they withdrew. We want to know what happened”,
Governor Idris, who said that the State Government has accepted what happened in good faith, noted that the incident has painted the country in bad light stressed that the State Government are ready to partner with the Minister of his mission.
