Massive turn-out as pro-Tinubu, Namadi rally holds in Dutse

From Mohammed Abubakar, Dutse

Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, came to a virtual standstill as hundreds of thousands of residents and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) poured onto the streets to express their support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State.

Tagged “One million-man march for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Namadi,” the exercise, the third in the series of enlightenment campaigns, drew participants from the seven local government councils that constitute the Jigawa South-West senatorial district. Similar exercises were held in Hadejia in the North-East and Gumel in the North-West of the state in the last three weeks.

The supporters, who thronged the major streets in the state capital before ending at the state secretariat of the party in Dutse, were heard chanting pro- Tinubu and Namadi songs, demanding that the two leaders should continue to provide the quality of leadership they have been providing in the course of their first tenures.

The rally was attended by prominent party leaders, both appointed and elected from the zone, notably commissioners, special advisers/assistants, chief executives of government agencies, sitting lawmakers as well as candidates for the various elective posts from the zone.

Addressing the rally, the state Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Special Duties, Auwalu Danladi Sankara, said the huge turnout of supporters was a clear demonstration of the support that both the President and the state governor enjoy.

According to him, “This is a clear and strong message that Jigawa is united behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Umar Namadi, and I can assure you that, by the grace of God in 2027, the state will be the first among the seven North-West states that will give Mr President massive votes.

“Besides, let me assure you that we, the youths of Jigawa State, are prepared to give Mr President nothing less than two million votes in the forthcoming general elections come 2027. My call on the people of Jigawa State is that they should realise that the President has done a lot for them.

“For instance, seeing how the people have been complaining about the subsidy removal, the President had to intervene by ensuring a reduction in the price of fuel in government-owned filling stations; that is the hallmark of a good and listening leader who listens to the complaints of his people and reacts appropriately.

“In Jigawa State, we can see how the President has ordered the cash transfer scheme, which is under my ministry, to the underprivileged people. I can confirm to you that no fewer than 178,000 people have so far directly benefited from the President-approved ₦75,000 per person, amounting to about ₦11 billion.

“Therefore, you would agree with me that the President has done what should earn him a second term, and I can assure you that we in Jigawa State will reciprocate the President’s gesture through the ballot box.”

One of the organisers of the march, Mr Aminu Dalhatu, warned the Jigawa electorate, especially the youths, against allowing themselves to be deceived by opposition politicians in the state.

He said, though the rally was intended to be a one million-man march, what happened here today was up to two million, an indication that the people of the state are very appreciative of the governments of President Tinubu and Governor Namadi.
