A frontline governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Mascot Uzor Kalu, has hinted that he would run a government based on transparency, economic growth and inclusiveness if he becomes the governor of Abia State.
In a statement ahead of the APC gubernatorial primaries, Mascot Kalu noted that the state deserves accountable leadership focused on long-term prosperity, improved healthcare, education, innovation, and job creation.
“If we come into power, our administration will emphasise more transparency, more inclusion, more accountability, and a clearer understanding of how public resources are being utilised for their benefit.”
According to Kalu, “Leadership should go beyond occupying political office and must focus on transforming lives, creating opportunities, and building enduring systems that benefit the people.”
Reflecting on his upbringing in Aba, educational and professional experiences in the United States, entrepreneurial achievements, and contributions to governance, the APC governorship hopeful stressed that those experiences have equipped him with the competence and capacity needed to reposition Abia State.
“Abia is currently at a defining moment in its history, especially at a time when states have increasing access to resources and opportunities.”

The former Chief of Staff to a former governor of the state, however, regrettably noted that many citizens are yet to feel the full impact of governance in their daily lives.
He said Abia people deserve a government that is deliberate about long-term prosperity rather than one that merely satisfies immediate political expectations.
“I believe the future of Abia must go beyond promises. It must be built on vision, competence, inclusion, transparency, economic expansion, human capital development, and governance that truly reaches the people,” he stated.
He maintained that significant investments in education, healthcare, innovation, enterprise development, youth empowerment, and community advancement must accompany economic growth.
Kalu made it clear that opportunities in Abia should not be concentrated in the hands of a few individuals or limited to certain locations but should be accessible to every hard-working citizen across the state.
The APC aspirant also clarified that his ambition is driven by service and genuine commitment to the people rather than politics alone.
