Students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) on Monday staged a peaceful walk ahead of the much-anticipated homecoming concert of Nigerian music star, Zlatan Ibile, in a show of unity, discipline, and commitment to peaceful coexistence within the institution.
The peace walk, which was led by the Students’ Union Government under the leadership of Comrade Temitope Afolabi and Hon Ademolu Toheeb, was organised by students of the polytechnic to formally reassure the management of the institution that the forthcoming event would be peaceful, orderly, and free from any form of disruption.
The students, dressed in coordinated outfits and carrying placards with messages promoting peace, unity, and responsible conduct, marched through the campus and proceeded to the management area where they were received by the institution’s leadership, led by Arch. Dr. Babatunde Jolaoso.
According to the Students’ Union leadership, the walk was not just a symbolic gesture, but a deliberate effort to demonstrate that MAPOLY students remain committed to maintaining peace before, during, and after the Zlatan homecoming concert.
The union explained that the initiative was designed to build confidence among the management, staff, students, and the wider community that the event would be conducted in a calm and respectable atmosphere.
Speaking during the walk, Comrade Afolabi said the students came together to preach peace and to assure the management that the concert would reflect the values of discipline and responsibility that MAPOLY is known for.

He noted that the event was being organised by students who understood the importance of order and mutual respect.
“We are here as students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic to assure our management, ably led by Arch. Dr. Babatunde Jolaoso, that we preach peace. This peace walk is our way of showing that we are responsible students and that we are committed to ensuring that the Zlatan homecoming concert is peaceful and successful,” he said.
Afolabi, also known as Big Afo, further explained that the Students’ Union Government believed strongly in dialogue, cooperation, and peaceful engagement as the best way to foster a healthy relationship between students and the institution’s authorities.
According to him, the peace walk was also meant to send a clear message that MAPOLY students were united in their desire to protect the image of the school.
The procession, which drew only students of the polytechnic, moved in an orderly manner as participants chanted songs of peace and solidarity.
