The incident, which occurred in Kofa town, situated in Bebeji Local Government Area of the state, also resulted in the destruction of valuables such as cars and houses.

Former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwakwaso, was in the convoy of the PDP that was attacked by the thugs who were said to be loyal to the APC.

The exact cause of the clash has not been established, but the deputy governorship candidate of the PDP in the coming election in the state, Alhaji Aminu Abdulsalam, claimed that they were ambushed by the thugs of the rival party on their way to a rally in Kiru and Bebeji areas.

“What exactly happened was that our PDP convoy was on its way to a rally through Babeji, and as they were passing through Kofa, through the residence of the member representing Kiru/Bebeji Constituency, which happens to be by the main road, he had already assembled thugs with very dangerous weapons, hundreds of them.

“But before they (police) were able to bring the situation under control, they had already smashed the cars of about five and more women and injured many of them,” he said.
