Many feared killed as robbers raid banks in Ekiti

There was tension in Ikere Ekiti, Ekiti State, as robbers raided commercial banks, killing many people.

The robbers who were armed with sophisticated weapons were said to have used dynamites to blow up banks vaults and carted away mony .

A source told Daily Sun that,  “unspecified number of people were killed while many others were injured. The shooting was massive causing serious panic in the entire town”.

As at the time of filling this report, commercial activities were grounded as business owners shut down their centres.

The extent  of damages done to the banks could not be ascertained as at press time, but Daily Sun gathered that the robbers who were operating with cars and motorcycles, used dynamites to blow open the entrance doors to the banks before entering inside the banks.

John Allo, said, “I cannot say the number of casualties, but I am sure that many people were killed. We have called the police who should be in a better possition to tell the number of death and those who were injured.”
