Matthijs de Ligt is in line to make his Manchester United debut in tonight’s Premier League opener against Fulham.
Erik ten Hag’s squad is keen to kick off the new season positively after their narrow penalty shootout loss to Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley last weekend.
De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, both new arrivals from Bayern Munich, could feature in tonight’s match at Old Trafford. Ten Hag has confirmed they’ll be in the squad, suggesting we might see them make their Premier League debuts.
With Luke Shaw out injured until after the international break and Tyrell Malacia also unavailable, United is short on full-back options. Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s move to West Ham has only added to the dilemma.

If Mazraoui doesn’t slot in on the left, or if Diogo Dalot isn’t moved from his usual right-back position, Lisandro Martinez might be asked to cover at left-back again.
Ten Hag addressed the issue, saying, “We were looking and we can sort problems over the left side. For instance, Licha Martinez and Diogo Dalot are capable of playing there. Mazraoui is an additional one who can fill the position as long as Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia aren’t in the team.”
In the attack, there might be some reshuffling. Alejandro Garnacho, who made a strong impression off the bench in the Community Shield, is pushing for a start.
If he is included, Marcus Rashford could move to the centre-forward position, with Garnacho on the left wing and Amad Diallo on the right. This would likely mean Mason Mount steps aside, with Bruno Fernandes returning to the No. 10 role.
