The National Vice President (Eastern Zone) of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Okenze Sylvester Obinna has tasked businessmen of Ngor Okpala Local Government Area extraction to emulate their Nnewi counterparts and invest at home.
He said that it is easier to import through the Onne Seaport, which he said is operational and also that Orashi Power of the Imo State government has improved electricity supply in the state.
Okenze Obinna gave the charge when the Association of Ngor Okpala Journalists paid him a courtesy at the MAN’s Secretariat yesterday.
His words: “We have a lot of wealthy businessmen in Ngor Okpala. They should emulate our Nnewi brothers who have continued to invest at home. Ngor Okpala council is the most peaceful council in the state. We have no insecurity. The Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport which the current administration is working hard to ensure that it begins full cargo operation, the Afrieximbank Quality Control centre for the entire southeast are all situated in Ngor Okpala.

“Again, the Orashi Power which supplies at least 20 hours of electricity has reduced the cost of production which is the best thing the current administration has done.
“I could have located my factory in Lagos or Abuja but I decided to locate it in my community, Umuaga Nguru, and I get at least 18-20 hours of electricity supply. They could site their factories along the Owerri/Aba road axis and the will also get connected to Orashi Power.”
Speaking further, he said: “It is easier to import and export your goods from the Onne Seaport in Rivers State because it is operational rather than doing so from Tincan Port in Lagos, which will add an extra cost through trucking. Ngor Okpala is a border town to Rivers State.”
The MAN VP also admonished manufacturers in the state to register with the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria and if they have any problem it will be sorted out by the Association.
