Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, has urged his former team to bid for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson above Newcastle United midfielders Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali during the summer transfer window.

Ferdinand believes Anderson would compliment Kobbie Mainoo in Manchester United’s midfield.

“Guimaraes and Tonali wouldn’t be my first-choice midfield signings this summer. It’s Elliot Anderson,” Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel.

“His age, he’s 23 years old… Guimaraes is 28, and Tonali is 25, soon to be 26, so that counts for a lot for me.

“I want young, hungry players in my squad. He complements Mainoo.”

Meanwhile, Man United legend, Ryan Giggs, had urged the Red Devils to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton and Anderson in the summer transfer window.

Giggs wants Wharton and Anderson to replace Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte at Old Trafford.
