A team of operatives from the Taraba State Police Command has arrested two suspects following a violent altercation that led to the death of a commercial tricycle union pass distributor at Angwan Kassa Junction in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.
The incident, which occurred on Wednesday evening, triggered panic among residents and commuters in the area.
Our correspondent gathered that the violent clash erupted when the deceased intercepted a commercial tricycle (Keke NAPEP) operator for operating without the mandatory daily union ticket.
Our correspondent further gathered that as the victim insisted that the operator should purchase the pass, the operator left his tricycle at the scene and went to mobilise thugs, who later attacked the victim.
The attack escalated into a heated argument, during which the pass distributor was stabbed and later succumbed to his injuries.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state command, ASP Victor Mshelizah, said two suspects were immediately apprehended in connection with the crime.
“Two suspects have been taken into custody and are undergoing interrogation. They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” Mshelizah stated.
