An High Court sitting in Benin has remanded one Aipoh John at Oko Correctional Centre for allegedly killing one Precious Ikpikhumi who was on her way going to church in Benin City, Edo State.
The suspect was arraigned on a one count- charge of murder punishable under section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code cap 48, volume II, law of the defunct Bendel state of Nigeria 1976, as applicable on Edo state.
The prosecuting Counsel Orobosa Okunbor, told the Court that on May 1,2022, Aipoh John, around Ugbowo area, in Benin City, murdered one Precious Ikpikhumi.
The suspect was said to have accosted the lady while she was going to the Church, dragged her to an uncompleted building, murder her and abandoned her corpse there.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge while his counsel requested for a date to enable him prepared for defence.
The presiding judge, Justice M. Isuele however remanded the accused persons at the Correctional Centre and adjourned the case to January 18, 2023 for hearing
