The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed that a man, Jamilu Ibrahim, is receiving medical treatment after his wife allegedly attempted to slit his throat while he was asleep.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said in a statement yesterday: “On June 29, 2026, at about 9:00 a.m., one Jamilu Ibrahim reported at the Central Market Division, Katsina, that earlier that morning, at about 5:30 a.m., while he was asleep, his wife, Sadiya Lawal, 23, attacked him with a knife in an attempt to slit his throat. The victim sustained a deep cut to the neck.”

According to the police, Ibrahim was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital, where he is responding to treatment.

Police officers visited the scene, arrested the suspect and recovered the knife allegedly used in the attack.

Aliyu added that the suspect remains in custody and will be charged to court for attempted culpable homicide upon the conclusion of investigations.

He reassured residents of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and cautioned against domestic violence.
