Manchester City have opened talks to sign 18-year-old defender, Vitor Reis from Palmeiras this January transfer window.

The Premier League champions are looking to strengthen manager Pep Guardiola’s defence in the second half of the season.

According to football transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City is in pole position to sign the center-back ahead of Brighton and other clubs.

Romano added that City have proposed an initial deal worth around €40m package for Reis.

“18 year old Brazilian centre back is key target after Brighton and more clubs had bids rejected.

“Man City are working on it strong, €40m package. Talks on. Deal on. ”

Reis has been with Palmeiras since 2016, when he was picked up at the age of 10.

He broke into the first team last year and has been impressive so far.
