A man identified as Livingston Nwakanma from Osaa Ukwu community in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State has allegedly macheted his mother to death.
This is coming weeks after a woman from a community in the same Obingwa Local Government Area allegedly stabbed her husband to death.
Although no immediate reason was adduced for the assailant’s action, reports from the area indicated that Nwakanma allegedly macheted his mother, Mrs Nwaigbe Nwakanma, to death while she was preparing soup in her kitchen.
Following a distress call as a result of the tragic incident, which was said to have occurred on Saturday, September 19, officers from the Eastern Ngwa Divisional Police Headquarters reportedly rushed to the scene.

The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, confirming the incident to newsmen, said police on arrival found the lifeless body of the woman after she sustained machete injuries.
Chinaka said a medical professional subsequently confirmed her death, while her remains were deposited in a morgue.
It was gathered that the suspect was rescued by the police from an angry mob that was about to lynch him and was taken into police custody.
