The Police on Friday, arraigned a 38-year-old man, Akosile Opeyemi, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged abduction. Opeyemi’s address was not provided.
The prosecutor, Insp Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between Aug. 24 and Aug. 29 in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant abducted one Jennifer Sunday.
Oriyomi said available information indicated that the girl had left home and was missing for a period of time, and was later found in the defendant’s house.
He said that the offence contravened Section 155 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant in a correctional centre, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the plea of the defendant was, however, not taken.
Counsel to the defendant, Mrs Adunni Olanipekun, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, having gone through the confessional statement of the defendant, therefore, granted him N200,000 bail with two sureties in like sum. He adjourned the case until Nov.3 for mention
