The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested Bello Amakwa , 30,an indigene of Birnin Kebbi for alleged murder of Auwal Uwaru, a native of Katami village ,Silami Local Government, Sokoto State.
Kebbi state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Nafiu Abubakar confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.
According to him,”on July 21, 2025, at about 8am, information received revealed, that one Auwal Umaru, 35,of Katami village, Silami LG of Sokoto state, was seen lying down in fool of his own blood behind the central market, Birnin Kebbi.

“Upon receiving the report, Divisional Police Officer, Central Market, mobilised a team of Policemen and vigilante to the scene and swiftly evacuated the victim to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, Birnin Kebbi, where a medical practitioner certified the victim dead.
“Following a credible lead, Bello Amakwa, 30, of Birnin Kebbi town has been arrested in connection with the case. In the course of preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed to have used a knife and stabbed the deceased in his neck, as a result of mere argument.
“ Commissioner of Police,Bello M Sani hereby, appealed to the youths to always seek redress from the appropriate authorities, when aggrieved, and desist from self help.
“He however, directed the DPO to immediately transfer the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation and prosecution.”
