‎Malfunctioning equipment causes flight delay at Abuja airport

‎Flight operations at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) Domestic Terminal have been disrupted following a technical fault with baggage screening equipment, the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has said.

In a notice to passengers, FAAN confirmed that the malfunction has slowed standard baggage processing and loading procedures, which have resulted in longer waiting times and possible departure delays for affected flights.

The Authority say they have activated backup screening measures using alternative equipment to keep flights moving while repairs are underway, but cautioned that the workaround is adding extra steps to the process, meaning some departures may still face holdups.

‎FAAN said that ground crews have been fully deployed to assist passengers and provide real-time updates, while airport officials are said to be working alongside relevant authorities to restore normal operations as quickly as possible.

Passengers travelling through NAIA’s Domestic Terminal have been urged to remain patient and watch for further updates as the situation develops.
