The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) Presidential Campaign Organisation has expressed confidence that its candidate, Seyi Makinde, will defeat President Bola Tinubu in 12 states identified as battlegrounds for the 2027 presidential election, as well as other parts of the country.

In a statement by the Director of Strategic Communication of the Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation (MDPCO), Richard Ihediwa, the party said alleged intimidation, political manoeuvring and abuse of incumbency would not reverse growing opposition to Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The statement followed reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council had identified Kaduna, Rivers, Plateau, Oyo, Borno, Enugu, Bauchi, Sokoto, Delta, Kano, Adamawa and Lagos as states where Tinubu would personally campaign.

The MDPCO claimed that the decision reflected the President’s apprehension over Makinde’s growing political support and his Reset Nigeria agenda.

“Mr President should know that his visit to these states, if he eventually does, will not in any way change the direction or the determination of the people to vote him out, given his unpardonable failures in office, which have brought unprecedented hardship across the country,” the statement said.

The campaign organisation challenged Tinubu to travel by road across the country to witness the state of federal highways, living conditions and infrastructural decay.
