The Papyrus Magazine said it is set to hold the 6th edition of its Distinguished CEO’s Awards.

Planning Committee Head Doofan Damsa Abu-Amali and the Publisher of the Magazine said that nominations are ongoing.

Taking the newsmen through the stages and process of the event, she said it started with an open call for nomination which is ongoing.

“Then there will be the unveiling of the nominees and a call for the general audience and award lovers and watchers to vote for their preferred nominee in all the selected industries- categories, after the collection of the votes, the winners will eventually be announced before the event’s date.”

Answering questions on why the winners need to be announced before the event, The Papyrus Magazine’s publisher who doubles as the planning commission’s Chairman said: “The Papyrus Magazine likes the unusual and the dent of doing things differently as such they have never liked a situation where people come into the hall and mostly go back home disappointed for not winning.

“To the organisation, they respect other organisers who do that but also says the pattern never just seats well with them because no matter how people think that the culture of having nominees in the hall in a category and then announcing one winner has been accepted; a lot of people won’t just have themselves travel to the seat through an event where they are told they didn’t do well enough to pick the plaque and so the organization will rather ease the stress for the people by not putting them through a long wait and disappointment in the end.

“The Papyrus Magazine’s Distinguished CEO’s Award (PAMDCEOA) is an initiative of Damsas’ Mega Business Limited, the publisher of The Papyrus Monthly Magazine; a publication founded on January 2, 2006, in Makurdi, capital of Benue State by Hon. Miss Doofan Damsa. The publication, a monthly news medium now based in Abuja has over thirty thousand subscribers of its hardcopy edition ranging from grassroots to the top in the country and in the diaspora.

“The magazine with mastery in developmental journalism focuses on politics, entertainment and lifestyle of individuals. The Magazine prides herself on fair, accurate and unbiased reportage. Its vision is to reduce the unemployment rate in every possible way, thus contributing to the society and growth of the economy.

“Thus, at this 6th edition of the glamorous gathering, the Magazine is celebrating men and women who have conquered societal limitations and have carved out a niche for themselves in contemporary African/Black society. These remarkable men and women have germinated an idea, nurtured it and are sustaining it.

“Their sterling efforts were not merely for their own benefits alone but to also improve the fortunes of others through the provision of employment opportunities as well as the overall development of the national and continental economies.

“The Awards Intend to select a special group of young African achievers whose exploits are exemplary. Through sheer hard work and intelligence, despite limited resources, they have succeeded in creating their own businesses, thus; bringing the African continent to a standard comparable to the developed countries of other advanced continents.

“Fortuitously, this edition, has an African colouration as recipients and guests will include 20 African countries, the last edition had 10 African countries participating. The celebration will serve as a morale booster for the recipients; an acknowledgement of their efforts and an encouragement to strive for greater achievements.”
