MACBAN Chairman, associate killed in Benue

The Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Benue State chapter, Ardo Risku Muhammed, and his associate, Yakubu Isah, have been killed in Benue State.

The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the attack.

Details about the incident were still sketchy at the time of filing this report but our correspondent gathered that the duo was killed in an ambush by suspected youths in the state.

It was said that the incident occurred at about 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Okudu, a community in Otukpo Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

Sources said the victims were returning from a security meeting convened by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ohimini LGA when they were attacked and killed.

According to information, the meeting, which took place in Ohimini LGA, was described as peaceful and fruitful.However, tragedy struck shortly after the MACBAN chairman and his associate left the venue and were travelling back.

The Chairman of Ohimini LGA, Gabriel Adole confirmed the incident, expressing concern over the development.

Also confirming the attack, the Chairman of Otukpo LGA, Maxwell Ogiri, said the area had become tense following the killings.

“The area where the incident happened is tense right now, but we appeal for calm. The police are on top of the situation,” Ogiri said.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies were said to have intensified efforts to restore calm and investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.

The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO DSP Udeme Edet who confirmed the incident to our correspondent said she was preparing a release on the incident soon.
