Markolima Consultancy Academy, (MACA), managers of the Nigerian Good Governance Award, (NGGA) 2023/2024, has commended President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing a roadmap for a new Nigeria.
Programme Manager, Nigerian Good Governance Award 2023/2024 Maiden Edition, Mrs Mimi Adzape-Orubibi, gave this commendation on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, during a press conference in Abuja, preparatory to unveil the nominees for the award.
Mrs Orubibi who noted that the President’s roadmap and policies were bearing fruits said she believes his economic reforms will impact positively on Nigeria in a long run.
The planned award is to further encourage a transparent and accountable governance system in th country.
According to her, preparatory to the upcoming award for the 2023/2024 Nigerian Good Governance Award, the team has concluded its independent assessment of would be awardees and will be unveiling them to Nigerians in a few days.
She explained that the Nigerian Good Governance Award is an initiative of Markolima Consultancy Academy, (MACA), a consultancy center for leadership and a non political organisation based in Abuja.
The organization has board of directors that seeks to partner with government agencies and institutions to promote an accountable and transparent governance system.
They also seek train and facilitate citizens’ participation in the decision-making process, to facilitate an improved and effectively free, fair, and transparent electoral process, improve the organizational structure and capacity of the Good Governance Awareness Initiative (GGAI).
It is also part of the organization’s aims to seek to encourage and reward public office holders who have used their positions and offices to deliver democracy dividends and have impacted positively on the society.
Mrs Orubibi who informed that the organization has concluded assessment and carefully arrived at the awardees said the category of public office holders targeted to be awarded in the maiden edition include seven Best Performing Governors, nine ministers, 12 Senators, 21 House of Representative Members and five heads of MDAs.
“The best performing governors award category will look at the impact of government policies on security, education, healthcare and social welfare, infrastructure development, youth and women empowerment amongst others.
“That of Ministers will x-ray the implementation of government programmes, policies, and initiatives by the ministers in their respective ministries while the category of the National Assembly members will focus on impacts on their constituencies in the area of constituency projects, number of bills and motions on the floor and empowerment schemes by the legislatures.”
She urged Nigerians to continue to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu so that the nation would benefit from the programme and policies of his administration.
“In life we must accept to take risk because life itself is a risk. So we believe his economic reforms will impact positively on Nigeria in a long run,” she added.
