The 2027 Labour Party governorship candidate in Ebonyi State, Splendor Eze, has challenged Governor Francis Nwifuru to present the three new aircraft he announced he has procured for the Chuba Okadigbo Airport in the state, in January this year.
Nwifuru, while delivering his 2026 New Year address to the people of the state, titled “Ebonyi Rising: A New Year of Hope and Responsibility”, announced the procurement of the three aircraft for the airport, which will arrive in the state before the end of January this year.
The governor said the three aircraft acquired under the Ebonyi Air initiative were expected to arrive in the state before the end of January this year.
The governor said that the decision to procure the aircraft was a strategic economic move aimed at opening up the state to investment, tourism, and increased business opportunities, rather than a quest for prestige.
However, five months later, none of the three procured aircraft has been seen.
Eze, in a statement, urged the governor to present the aircraft to the state, saying that politics may have taken over the issues concerning the aircraft.
“Ebonyi people, please, where are the three aircraft this administration told us that it has purchased and promised to bring to Ebonyi State in January 2026?
“This is the end of June, yet no aircraft. What could be the problem? Or has 4 + 4 = 8 replaced the aircraft? Every concerned Ebonyi person should be asking similar questions. We need to know what is holding those aircraft from arriving at Ebonyi State.
“That huge amount of cash invested in the purchase of those aircraft can build industries that will employ thousands of our unemployed people. Our common patrimony must not be wasted in this manner! Ebonyi State shall rise again,” Eze said.
