The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party (LP) has released a timetable for the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms in preparation for its primary elections. The party noted that the move is in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), the Electoral Act, 2026, and the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Revised Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the Conduct of the 2027 Elections.
In a press statement issued over the weekend and signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Ken Asogwa, the sale of nomination forms for all elective offices shall commence on Wednesday, May 6, and end on Monday, 16 May 2026.
The submission of completed forms will begin on Tuesday, 17 May 2026, and conclude on Wednesday, 18 May 2026. Screening of aspirants for the House of Assembly and governorship elections is scheduled for 20 May 2026, while the screening for National Assembly and presidential candidates will take place on 22 May 2026.
The party further stated that the publication of screened results is set for 23 May 2026. Petitions and appeals for the House of Assembly and governorship candidates will be handled on 24 May 2026. For the National Assembly and presidency, petitions and appeals will be held on 25 May, followed by the publication of the final list of cleared aspirants on 26 May 2026.

Furthermore, the party highlighted that party primaries for the House of Assembly and governorship are scheduled for 27 May, while those for the National Assembly and the presidency will take effect on 29 May 2026.

The party reminded stakeholders that, in line with the Labour Party motto of “Equal Opportunity and Social Justice”, the NWC has approved concessions for specific categories of aspirants. Notably, the committee has reserved a free governorship nomination form for Governor Alex Otti in his capacity as the leader of the party.
Additionally, female aspirants, persons living with disabilities, and youth aspirants (aged 25–30 years) shall only be required to pay for the expression of interest forms across all categories of positions.
Finally, the Labour Party urges all prospective aspirants for the 2027 elections who are yet to register with the party to take advantage of the ongoing membership e-registration. Prospective members must register before midnight on Monday, 4 May 2026. Registration remains open from Sunday, 3 May 2026, until midnight today, ahead of the compilation and submission of the party’s membership register to INEC in compliance with the Electoral Act, 2026.
