Ivan Juric, the coach of Atalanta, believes that Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman will regain his confidence once he scores his first goal of the season.

Despite returning to Atalanta for an entire month, Lookman has struggled following a prolonged dispute regarding his dissatisfaction with a failed move to Inter Milan.

In mid-September, Lookman made his season debut as a late substitute in Torino’s 3-0 defeat to Atalanta.

This appearance was followed by a starting role in the Champions League match against Club Brugge on September 30th.

However, despite six appearances and a total of 371 minutes on the pitch so far, Lookman has yet to make a significant impact, having scored no goals and provided no assists.

This is in stark contrast to his impressive record of 20 goals and seven assists in 40 games during the 2024/25 season.

Juric stated, “All he needs is a goal. He is part of the team and is trying to give his all, even if he isn’t at his best yet. Right now, he lacks the sharpness to finish well. Like Scamacca, his situation has changed from that of a footballer for various reasons this summer. You can’t just throw him onto the pitch; it takes patience. However, it’s crucial to see Ademola’s selfless run in the 93rd minute against Cremonese as he covered the defence.” Juric highlights Lookman’s commitment by noting his dedication in the closing moments of the match.
