The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled the final three-man shortlist for the CAF Player of the Year award, highlighting the standout contributions of these athletes in the 2023/2024 season.
The football governing body shortlisted the Nigerian duo of Ademola Lookman and Victor Boniface. The body named Moroccan Brahmin Diaz to complete the final three-man shortlist.

Atalanta’s Lookman had a remarkable season, contributing to the team’s UEFA Europa League victory and earning the title of the club Player of the Year, while Leverkusen Boniface was instrumental in his club’s success, helping secure titles in the Bundesliga, German Cup, and German Super Cup, while also making significant contributions to the Super Eagles.
In a similar vein, Real Madrid playmaker Brahim Diaz played a key role in winning multiple titles, including La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, and the Spanish Super Cup, solidifying his impact on both club and country. These players have been recognized for their outstanding performances, making them top contenders for Africa’s most prestigious football award.
The winner will be announced at the upcoming ceremony in Marrakesh.
